Specialist Syllabus.
PDF Format, 47KB |
Candidates should be able to create 2D
objects, manipulate their properties, and generate printouts and
plots. Candidates are also expected to exploit some of the more
advanced features of a CAD software application, such as the insertion
of objects from other applications.

ECDL
CAD Specialist Testing |
|
The ECDL CAD Specialist certification
is achieved through the successful completion of a 105-minute,
54-question test in which the candidate is directed to perform a
series of tasks using a PC, a CAD software application, a printer,
and supplied work files. |
|
Tests are selected
at random, and are supervised by an authorised ECDL Tester. The pass
score is 80%.
More About Testing
-
ECDL CAD Specialist Test Centres are provided with a range of tests
and associated work files. This is known as the ECDL CAD Specialist
Question and Test Base (ECDL-CAD QTB).
-
A test candidate is presented with one test selected at random from
the ECDL-CAD QTB by an authorised ECDL Tester.
-
Each test is divided into three parts, reflecting the ECDL CAD
Specialist
Syllabus structure: Getting Started, Basic Operations, and
Advanced Functionality.
-
Each test contains a total of 54 tasks.
-
The test candidate is provided with a PC, and access to a laser
printer for producing outputs. The test candidate should be able to
select the laser printer and print outputs from the CAD software
application without additional installation or configuration
procedures.
-
The software installed on the test candidate's PC may be AutoCAD®
LT 2000 or higher, AutoCAD® 2000 or higher, or a
comparable CAD software application.
-
The duration of a test is 1 hour and 45 minutes. An authorised ECDL
Tester is present from the beginning to the end, to ensure that the
test is performed in an appropriate manner.
-
At the start of the test the candidate is provided with:
- A printout of the test tasks
- Work files located in a designated
folder on the test PC
- Work files contained on a supplied
floppy diskette
-
At the end of the test the candidate saves the some of the completed
work files in a folder on the test PC, and the others on the
supplied diskette. The diskette and printed outputs are given to the
authorised ECDL Tester.
-
The candidate has passed the test if he or she scores 32 marks out
of the possible 40 (80%). Assessment of answers is done with a
degree of tolerance. Marks are not lost for minor typing errors.
-
On successful completion of the test the candidate is provided with
a printed certificate confirming their ECDL CAD Specialist
qualification.
